This is a simple script written in Expectk. The purpose of this script is to allow entering the Telnet server name or address and the username/password combination (one time), then having the script open a telnet session, login to the Telnet server, then launch a telnet session from the telnet server to the device and drop you on a command prompt. As stated in the title, the prompts are what’s to be – expected (get it, expected, Expect script? – ahh, forget it :) – from a Cisco IOS device using username/password authentication.

And here we go again another VMware Perl Script… This has been like an evolution of my previous scripts.. :) Except this Perl CGI Script uses my ESX Perl Module ESX_VM.pm. This script will give you an Idea on how to use my ESX_VM.pm. You can also use this script with the ESX_VM.pm for your current environment.

Wow this was a real mission for me and a learning experience… I’m updating you from my OpenSolaris box right now :) …..  Essentially in a nutshell, I had to run /usr/X11R6/bin/scanpci -v to find out what typ of network card I had installed (NVIDIA MCP61). I then googled that on the net and it returned this wonderful link "http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/nfo-2.6.0.tar.gz"  . This driver was the missing link in my quest to get networking.

I will create  a tutorial on howto setup networking under OpenSolaris in a few hours after I get a nap.

Recently I took an interest in learning OpenSolaris, and let me tell you, to me it’s like learning a different language. I am still not able to get my box with simple networking… (

I did a #$%^ load of googling and I found out how to scan the devices on OpenSolaris "/usr/X11R6/bin/scanpci -v" By doing that I found that the current driver I have loaded is not the correct driver, now to find the correct driver and load that bad boy up. I’m going to load up alot of howtos on OpenSolaris once I got a grip of the situation.

I would like to take the time to thank Zenoss for sending me this wonderful Jacket. I’ve been using Zenoss now for almost 2 years now and I’ve been trying my best to convert as many people from Nagios and the other Monitoring systems to  Zenoss. Zenoss is the first product that I have become truly attached to. Because of Zenoss I am now a Python evangelist and most of my code is programmed in Python.

It is hard when you work for a company who does not want you to share code that you have written, even though the code does not show anything about the environment I currently work in. I’m going to try and submit some updates in the next few days… I’ve been working with TurboGears alot lately, hopefully I can finish the one out of four projects that I have started soon and I will post them soon.

Another
Perl SDK Script for VMware ESX 3.+. This is essentially my first 2 (part 1 and part 2) ESX Perl scripts modified into 1 and converted into a CGI. If  you have been using my scripts and they have helped you please leave a comment.

This script assumes you have the VMware
Infrastructure (VI) Perl Toolkit Packages installed and your
$HOME/.visdkrc set correctly. Without the above the script below will
not work!!
